Forthcoming Events

12 - 15 April 2018

For all those willing to embark on the adventure, Kuwait Mantas Diving Club is organising a trip for the long weekend to celebrate the anniversary of the Prophet's Ascension. Our host will be the National Institute for Scuba Diving in Beirut. For more information visit http://www.nisd-online.com. For those qualified to dive to 35 m, the great attractions are the wreck of the submarine "Souffleur" and that of the cargo ship "Alice". Needless to say shallower dives can be done, and Beirut is a wonderful city. The expected water temperature is 18 C.

The plan is to fly to Beirut on the evening of Thursday 12 April, do three dives on both Friday and Saturday, off-gas in the course of Sunday, and return that evening. At the time of writing the cheapest return is to be had for KWD 72 with Jazeera Airways. Other options are to fly with Kuwait Airways or Middle East Airlines. Besides the centre of Beirut with its bookshops and restaurants, the possibilities for sightseeing on Sunday include visits to Byblos and the Jeita Grotto.

Using your own equipment excluding weights and cylinders, which will be provided, the cost of the diving is US $ 25 per dive, with Nitrox US $ 5 extra. The hotel cost US $ 77 per night for a single room, and US $ 88 per night for a double, with breakfast, on our last trip late 2016. Allow extra for transport to and from the airport, transport from the hotel to the dive centre (was US $ 7 for a taxi taking up to five), evening meals, drinks, souvenirs, sightseeing, and other incidentals.
